MRCC (Jean Chris Van Lam) are Proven to be “UNSTOPPABLE” by taking the 3rd Porsche Cup of 2009. That’s three out of three for 2009!

We made it to Kingston late in the afternoon on Saturday. It was actually starting to drizzle a bit. Forecast indicated lightning bolts (no JP, those are NOT sun-rays/beams or whatever you said they were) In the first two Porsche Cup races, we used Chris's “Golden” TA-05 and JP's TB03 RDE. Now the pressure is on ME! What if my TA-05 DLE is NOT up to par? When we got the pit set up, I spent all my time waterproofing the electronics just in case it would rain. The rain stopped and track dried up before the race. I didn't feel my hard work was wasted because there could be the chance it would start raining again.

Chris was first at the wheel. We noticed the car very tail happy but it was too late to do anything about it. Our biggest threat was Michelin Red (Sunny and Patrick) and they were pulling away! However, they made a costly mistake in breaking a front knuckle! They came back before the race was over but we were already too far ahead. JP took over at the 30min mark. And at the end of the first 1/2, we were 12 laps ahead of 2nd place.

During the 30 minute intermission; we changed the motor and tires but we still had to think of a plan to fix the handling problem. We ended up putting in a front differential and some minor suspension setup changes. That did improving the handling significantly but at the start of the 2nd part of the race, Michelin Red was still pulling away. 6 minutes in, and the race had to be restarted due to a computer error (very uncommon for the Kingston guys!). Back to the starting line again! There was no time to make adjustments but we did manage to clean the tires off and put in a fresh battery. I was driver #3 and was running in the dark for the first time of the 3 races. You do get used to it gradually but it was very difficult. The worse part of the track wasn’t the darkness; it was the light coming in from behind the driver’s stand which casted dark shadows of the drivers with bright light in between on a section of the track. I had to take that section slower just to be on the safe side. I didn’t feel I was driving as good as Chris and JP that night but I managed to hang on to the end and didn’t lose the lead.

There you have it folks, another one in the books!
